Highlighting Significant Text

From DE Brand Guide 2024

Use the following best practices when highlighting a significant word or phrase.

  • Use a font weight two times stronger for the highlighted text.
  • Use highlighted underlines for short phrases or words to call attention.
    • Add a highlighted underline a few pixels below the baseline, not the descender line.
    • Use a rounded stroke about 1/3 the size of the x-height for the highlighted underline.
    • Dark Backgrounds: Use the color Space or Azure for the highlighted underline.
    • Light Backgrounds: Use the colors Bumblebee, Coral, or Jade for the highlighted underline.
  • Do not highlight more than 50% of the copy or include more than two highlights.
  • Do not use font colors outside of the Color section.

Best Practices

Copying ElementsKit Advanced Widgets

When working with ElementsKit Advanced Widgets on our WordPress site, you might encounter an issue where copying an existing widget and updating its content affects the original widget as well. This is because the content of the widget is linked, and changes in one instance will reflect in the other.

To ensure you can reuse the styling and functionality of the widget without this problem, follow these steps:

Solution 1: Insert New Widget and Copy Styles

  • Insert a New ElementsKit Advanced Widget:

    • Go to the page or section where you want to add the new widget.
    • Insert a new ElementsKit Advanced Widget of the desired type.
  • Copy Styles from the Existing Widget:

    • Select the existing widget with the styling you want to copy.
    • Right-click on the widget.
    • From the context menu, select Copy. This copies the style and settings of the widget.
    • Select the widget to paste the style to by clicking on it.
    • Right-click on the target widget.
    • From the context menu, select Paste Style.

Solution 2: Copy Widget from Another Page and Create New Content Areas

  • Copy the ElementsKit Advanced Widget:

    • Navigate to the page with the existing widget you want to copy.
    • Copy the entire widget (use the widget’s copy function or manually copy the widget).
  • Paste the Widget on the New Page:

    • Go to the new page where you want to place the copied widget.
    • Paste the copied widget.
  • Delete Existing Items and Add New Ones:

    • After pasting the widget, delete the existing content items within the widget.
    • Add new content items to create fresh content areas. This ensures that the content of the new widget is unique and not linked to the original.
