Charlotte, NC (Friday, April 25, 2025) – The STEM Careers Coalition by Discovery Education has received Silver for the Best Education Initiative category from the 2025 Halo Awards. The Halo Awards by Engage for Good honor programs that deliver measurable impact for both business and society. Discovery Education is the creator of essential K-12 learning solutions used in classrooms around the world.
The STEM Careers Coalition is an alliance of industries and non-profit organizations partnering with Discovery Education to create access to free STEM content and career connections. In 2024, the Coalition surpassed the goal of reaching 10 million students by the end of 2025, a year ahead of schedule. Since 2019, the STEM Careers Coalition has reached over 11 million students, including 2.97 million in the 2023-2024 school year alone, 65% of which are from Title I schools.
The Coalition works to prepare all students for future jobs in STEM, developing the skills and knowledge needed to succeed in college and a career through high-quality classroom resources, career exploration tools, after school activities, digital content, and more. The STEM Careers Coalition features a range of industry and nonprofit partners, including Nucor, Prologis, United Airlines, and many more.
Created by Engage for Good, The Halo Awards began 23 years ago and are designed to recognize the most innovative and effective partnerships between companies and nonprofits. The Best Education Initiative strives to improve educational outcomes for individuals and communities by recognizing campaigns that work to increase access to education, support innovative learning approaches, address educational inequities, and empower learners of all ages.
“At Discovery Education, we work to inspire curiosity, build confidence, and accelerate learning. The STEM Careers Coalition connects the dots for the future STEM workforce by bridging industry opportunities and classroom learning. We are proud of the Coalition and our network of partners for all we have achieved so far,” said Amy Nakamoto, Executive Vice President of Marketing and Corporate Partnerships at Discovery Education. “Thank you to the Halo Award judges and Engage for Good for this honor! This recognition is a powerful catalyst for the STEM Careers Coalition to continue creating engaging, dynamic content to inspire students to be curious about their own futures.”
