ELIGIBILITY. The New Teacher Survival Central Sweepstakes ("Sweepstakes") is offered only in the fifty (50) United States and the District of Columbia ("U.S.") and is open only to legal U.S. residents who are 18 years of age and older and who are employed, during the Term of the Sweepstakes and when prizes are awarded, as teachers at an accredited public, private or parochial school in the United States containing any class with students from Kindergarten through Grade 12, that has a 501(c)(3) or 509(a)(1) tax-exempt designation. Employees of Discovery Communications, LLC ("Sponsor"), its promotional partners, their respective subsidiaries, affiliates, advertising and promotion agencies, Promotion Mechanics, Inc. ("Sweepstakes Administrator"), and the immediate family members (spouses and parents, children and siblings and their spouses, regardless of where they live) or members of the same households (whether related or not) of such individuals (collectively, "Sweepstakes Entities") are not eligible. Eligibility may be verified by Sponsor at any time. Any determinations of eligibility will be made by the Sponsor whose decisions are final.
Eligible teachers who enter will be entering as employees of their school. Thus, these rules are binding on both you, as a teacher and employee of your school, and the school. Therefore, you warrant that your school has full knowledge of your actions and has consented to your entry, including your potential receipt of the prizes described below.

TERM. Discovery Education's New Teacher Survival Central Sweepstakes ("Sweepstakes") begins at 12:01:00 AM Eastern Time ("ET") on August 29, 2009 and ends at 11:59:00 PM ET on December 18, 2009 (the "Term"), and consists of four (4) monthly entry periods and random drawings and one (1) Grand Prize drawing. Monthly entry periods begin at 12:01:00 AM ET and end at 11:59:00 PM ET, as follows:

Random drawings will be conducted on the dates outlined above. The monthly drawings will be open to all eligible entrants, but the Grand Prize drawing will be open only to new full-time teachers, "new teacher" being defined as a person who is in his/her first year of teaching. Entries from monthly entry periods do not carry over to subsequent monthly entry periods. Thus, if you enter during one monthly entry period, you will only be considered for that monthly entry period prize and will not be considered during any other monthly entry period. In addition to being included in the applicable monthly prize drawing, all entries received from new teachers will be included in the Grand Prize drawing.

TO ENTER. Visit the Sweepstakes page at www.discoveryeducation.com/survival and access the Sweepstakes entry form. Complete the entry form by providing all requested entry information, including providing your name, address, school in which you teach, and contact information, and answering all questions. All entries must be received by Sponsor's server by 11:59:00 PM ET on December 18, 2009. Limit one (1) entry per person per day.

MONTHLY DRAWINGS/PRIZES: The Sweepstakes Administrator, an independent judging organization, will conduct a random drawing for each monthly entry period from among all eligible entries received for that entry period. Each random drawing will award one (1) prize package consisting of a selection of products from the Sponsor and its promotional partners, as follows:

GRAND PRIZE DRAWING AND REFERRAL PRIZES. On or about December 21, 2009, the Sweepstakes Administrator will conduct a random drawing to select one (1) Grand Prize winner, chosen at random from among all entries received during the Term from eligible new teachers. The Grand Prize will consist of an opportunity to participate in a "Teachers Only" international adventure, in which the winner will join with up to twenty (20) other teachers for all-expenses paid trip to a Discovery Student Adventures location. Location details will be provided by January 1, 2010. The trip will consist of round trip coach air travel from the major commercial airport closest to winner's residence, accommodations for the duration of the trip, ground transportation and activities selected by Sponsor. All other expenses are the winner's sole responsibility. Approximate retail value will range from $8,000 - $10,000. Actual value will be determined by winner's residence and seasonal rates.
If the Grand Prize winner named a teacher on his/her Sweepstakes entry form who referred him/her to the Sweepstakes, the referring teacher will receive a trip to the professional development conference of the his/her choice from a provided list of destinations. Dates of conferences will be in 2010. The trip will consist of round trip coach air transportation from the major commercial airport closest to winner's residence, hotel accommodations for duration of conference, and conference entry fee. All other expenses are the winner's sole responsibility. Approximate retail value will range from $2,500.
Actual value of prize trips will be determined by winner's residence and seasonal rates. Travel and accommodations are subject to availability and certain restrictions. Winners must have valid travel documents (i.e. a valid government-issued identification card or valid U.S. passport, as required by destination) prior to issuance of travel documents. Air carriers and hotel will be selected by Sponsor. Air carrier's regulations and conditions apply.
PRIZE NOTIFICATION & DOCUMENTATION. All potential prize winners will be notified by telephone and/or email, at Sponsor's discretion. If a potential winner does not respond to the notification attempt the time period specified therein, then such potential winner will be disqualified and an alternate potential winner will be selected from among all eligible entries received during the applicable monthly prize drawing, or Grand Prize drawing. With respect to notification by telephone, such notification will be deemed given when the potential winner engages in a live conversation with Sponsor or when a message is left on the potential winner's voicemail service or answering machine by the Sponsor, whichever occurs first. Except where prohibited by law, each potential winner may be required to sign and return an Affidavit of Eligibility and Liability and Publicity Release and provide any additional information that may be required by Sponsor. If required, potential winners must return all such required documents within the time period specified therein or such potential winner will be deemed to have forfeited the prize and another potential winner will be selected.
PRIZE RESTRICTIONS. Taxes on prizes and all expenses related to acceptance and use of the prizes and not specified are the sole responsibility of winners. Prize cannot be transferred, substituted or redeemed for cash except at Sponsor's sole discretion. Sponsor reserves the right to substitute a prize of comparable or greater value if a prize cannot be awarded as described for any reason. Limit one prize per person, except in the case of (i) "new" teachers, who may win once during the monthly entry periods and the Grand Prize and (ii) referral prize winners, who may win once during the monthly entry period and the referral prize. Odds of winning any prize will be determined by the number of eligible entries received for each drawing.
PERSONAL INFORMATION. . Please note that by entering this Sweepstakes and by checking the "opt-in" boxes on the entry form for this promotion, you are [a] agreeing that the Sponsor may share your entry information (including your name, address, email address, etc.) with our promotional partners and other parties; and [b] granting us, our promotional partners and other third parties with which we choose to share your information, permission to contact you about our upcoming shows, promotions or for other reasons. You can enter this Sweepstakes but keep your entry information private by not checking the "opt-in" boxes on the entry form. The collection and use of entrant information will be governed by Discovery Education's on-line privacy policy, available for viewing at http://www.discoveryeducation.com/aboutus/privacypolicy.cfm.
RELEASE. . By participating, entrants agree [a] to these rules and decisions of Sponsor and judges, which shall be final in all respects relating to this Sweepstakes; and [b] to release, discharge and hold harmless Sweepstakes Entities from any and all injuries, liability, losses and damages of any kind resulting from their participating in the Sweepstakes or their acceptance, use or misuse of a prize including, without limitation, personal injury, death and property damage, and claims based on publicity rights, copyright, trademark, defamation or invasion of privacy. In addition, Sweepstakes Entities are not responsible for and shall not be liable for [a] electronic, hardware or software program, network, Internet or computer malfunctions, failures, or difficulties of any kind, including without limitation, server malfunction or by any human error which may occur in the processing of entries; [b] failed, incomplete, garbled or delayed computer transmissions; [c] lost, late, misdirected, damaged, incomplete entries or postage-due mail; or [d] any condition caused by events beyond the control of the Sponsor that may cause the promotion to be disrupted or corrupted. Sponsor reserves the right in its sole discretion to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the Sweepstakes or any portion thereof should viruses, bugs or other causes beyond the control of Sponsor corrupt the administration, security or proper play of the Sweepstakes, and limit entries to those submitted prior to the action taken, or to proceed in such a manner as may be deemed fair and equitable by Sponsor in its sole discretion
RIGHTS IN ENTRY MATERIALS AND PUBLICITY. Entrants agree to assign to Sponsor use of entrant's name, school, city and state and/or photograph for programming, advertising, publicity and promotional purposes without compensation (unless prohibited by law) and without prior approval or inspection, and agree to execute specific consent to such use if asked to do so.
RIGHT TO CANCEL. Persons who tamper with or abuse any aspect of the Sweepstakes or website or who are in violation of these Official Rules, as solely determined by Sponsor, will be disqualified and all associated entries will be void. Should any portion of the Sweepstakes be, in Sponsor's sole opinion, compromised by virus, worms, bugs, non-authorized human intervention or other causes which, in the sole opinion of the Sponsor, corrupt or impair the administration, security, fairness or proper play, or submission of entries, Sponsor reserves the right to suspend, modify or terminate the Sweepstakes.
