Public Broadcaster Recommits to Providing Arkansas Educators and Students Effective Digital Classroom Resource

Arkansas Educational Television Network renews agreement with Discovery Education.

Silver Spring, MD(December 3, 2007) – Public broadcasting entity Arkansas Educational Television Network (AETN) recently renewed its agreement with Discovery Education to offer Discovery Education streaming to educators and students across Arkansas. AETN’s statewide agreement renews 1358 school buildings across Arkansas for one year.

According to Allen Weatherly, AETN Executive Director, “Discovery Education streaming’s high-quality content makes it a powerful tool teachers across Arkansas use each day to inform, educate, motivate and inspire students. We at AETN are looking forward to continuing our relationship with Discovery Education.”

The only digital video-based learning resource scientifically proven to increase academic achievement, Discovery Education streaming enhances local educator’s curriculum with d igital media and engages today’s technology-savvy generation on their level. Today, 1 million educators and 30 million students in more than half of U.S. schools learn with Discovery Education streaming.

As the pressure for students to master 21st century skills within the framework of the No Child Left Behind Act continues to grow, the use of technology in the classroom becomes more important. AETN continues to address this trend by offering educators seamless access to online digital content correlated to Arkansas state educational standards. With more than 4,000 full-length videos segmented into 40,000 content-specific clips at their fingertips, educators in Arkansas maintain their ability to seize teachable moments and illustrate for students visually concepts or ideas in every subject area.

According to Discovery Education Vice President of Assessment & National Accounts Andy Schaefer, “Discovery Education is thrilled to continue our partnership w ith AETN. Together, we empower thousands of teachers in Arkansas to improve student achievement through high quality digital content.”

Supporting the teachers served by AETN is the Discovery Educator Network, a global community of 26,000 educators passionate about integrating media into classroom curriculum. Through the Discovery Educator Network, educators served by AETN have free access to a wide range of technology training, as well as a resource library of teacher generated projects and tools to create their own educational blogs.
